Cooling, heating and hot water are one trade now, because one outdoor unit does all three, and there are very few firms in London who fit all of it themselves rather than subcontracting whichever half they do not do.

The owner runs Climate Shield for cooling, Green Electro Heating for heat pumps and solar, and Flame Shield London for fire safety. It is one team of engineers and one set of insurance, which is why a job that turns out to need a heat pump rather than a split system does not need a second contractor and a second quotation.
A first floor flat with a boundary two metres away, a listed frontage, a freeholder who has refused three times already: these come up every week. Where the job is not lawful or not viable we say so on the survey rather than taking a deposit and finding out later. It costs us a sale and it is the reason the reviews we do have are real.
Every quotation says what is included and what is not. It does not move unless the scope moves, and if we find something behind a wall that nobody could have seen, we tell you before we do the work and you decide.
Most London terraces have room for exactly one outdoor unit. These systems do all three jobs from it, and almost nobody here fits them.
Samsung Quint, Daikin Altherma X
One outdoor unit driving both the wall units that cool your rooms and the radiators, underfloor and cylinder that heat the house. It replaces the gas boiler and the air conditioning in the same install.
Daikin Multi Plus
A multi split that cools two or three rooms and produces the domestic hot water from the same outdoor unit. The heat it takes out of your bedroom in August goes into the cylinder instead of into the street.
Usually no, sometimes yes, and in a conservation area it is a different conversation entirely. All eight conditions are in one table.

In most cases no. A domestic outdoor unit is normally permitted development in England, which means no planning application, provided it meets a short list of conditions: one unit only, at least one metre from the boundary if it is on a wall or roof, not on a wall facing a highway forward of the principal elevation, not above the highest part of the roof, and quiet enough to meet the MCS 020 noise standard.
London breaks that more often than anywhere else, because London has more conservation areas, more listed buildings and more flats. Every condition is set out on the planning permission page.
A single room wall-mounted split system, supplied and fitted with VAT, is typically 1,750 to 3,500 pounds in London. A two-room multi-split on one outdoor unit is typically 3,200 to 5,500 pounds, and a three-room system 4,500 to 7,500 pounds.
What moves the number is access, pipe length and electrics rather than the unit itself. The full breakdown and a calculator are on the installation cost page.
Usually yes, but you need the freeholder's written consent before anything else, because the outdoor unit changes the exterior of the building and almost every London lease restricts that. Planning permission is a separate question and it comes second.

Yes. Every system we fit is a reversible air-to-air heat pump, so the unit that cools in August heats in February. It moves heat rather than making it, which is why it returns roughly three to four units of heat per unit of electricity.
That makes it the cheapest way to heat one room that most London homes have, and it is why a lot of customers who bought it for summer end up using it more in winter.
No. There is no UK grant for air conditioning or for air-to-air heat pumps. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme pays 7,500 pounds towards air-to-water heat pumps only, which are a different machine that heats water for radiators and a cylinder rather than blowing cooled or warmed air into a room.
If the grant is what you are after, that is an air source heat pump, and we install those too.
One day for a single room in a typical north London house, including commissioning and handover. A two or three room system on one outdoor unit is usually two days.
We work in one property at a time rather than starting four and finishing none, so the date you are given is the date the work happens.
No. This is building air conditioning only, for homes and commercial premises. Vehicle air conditioning is a separate trade with separate qualifications and we would be no good at it.
