Heating, solar and storage
as one system in Tottenham
A complete home energy system in N15: a Samsung 12kW heat pump with a Sunamp heat store, solar panels, and 19kWh of battery storage.

- MCS certified, NICEIC approved electrics
Accredited, and fitting the brands you know

We installed a Samsung 12kW heat pump with a Sunamp x300 heat store, JA Solar 440W panels, a hybrid inverter and 19kWh of LiFePO4 battery storage at a house in Tottenham N15. Four radiators were upgraded to suit the heat pump's lower flow temperatures, and the £7,500 grant was applied to the heat pump.
Surplus solar charges the battery for the evening, so the heating and the house draw far less from the grid through the year.
How the job was done
Step by step, in the photographs taken on site.
-
1Everything electrical on one wall
The inverter, the battery modules and every isolator are on one wall, in reach, with the conduit run in straight lines. A fault in ten years' time can be traced without stripping anything.
-
2
A heat store instead of a cylinder
The Sunamp stores heat in a material that changes phase, so it holds more heat in less space than a cylinder of water and gives mains pressure hot water on demand.
-
3
Radiators matched to the heat pump
Four radiators were upgraded so the rooms they serve reach temperature at the heat pump's lower flow temperature.

Air-to-air heat pumpsTottenham N15: questions about this job
What is a LiFePO4 battery?
Lithium iron phosphate, a battery chemistry known for stability and a long cycle life. It is what most home batteries use now.
How big a battery does a heat pump house need?
It depends on the solar, the tariff and the evening use. 19kWh suits a house with a heat pump and a large array. How we size a battery.
