We installed a Samsung 8kW high temperature heat pump in Camden NW1 with a Sunamp Thermino 210 xPlus heat battery for the hot water, a compact alternative to a cylinder. The £7,500 grant was applied, and the system was MCS certified on completion.

The heat battery stores heat in a phase change material, which holds far more heat for its size than water does, and delivers mains pressure hot water on demand.

    A Sunamp Thermino is up to four times smaller than the indirect cylinder it replaces, which is what made a heat pump practical in a house with no space for a large tank. The heat cell carries a 10-year warranty.

    Flat on the patio, not drilled into it

    Outside, the unit is levelled on packers on the existing tiled patio rather than bolted through it, so the tiling stays whole and the unit still sits dead flat.
