An air source heat pump with a hot water cylinder is £12,200 to £15,000 for a small house and £15,000 to £19,000 for a four bedroom one, before the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. Take £7,500 off for the grant, which we apply for and redeem as part of the job.
Those are our own figures. Nine quotations we issued between July and September 2026 landed at £12,490, £12,975, £13,800, £14,320, £15,050, £15,759, £15,985, £17,500 and £17,831. VAT is zero.

The service block is the part most installers do not itemise. It covers the £7,500 grant application and redemption, the building control certificate, the DNO commissioning and the MCS certification, all of which have to happen for the grant to be paid.
What the price includes
Everything below is inside the figure. Nothing here is an extra we add later.
The grant, done for you
We apply for the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme voucher, you consent to it by email, and we redeem it after the installation. It comes off the price rather than being something you claim back.
MCS certification
Registration NIC-601634. Without an MCS certified installation there is no grant, and the certificate is issued in Electro Heating Limited's name.
The warranty
7 years on the heat pump, 25 years on the cylinder's stainless steel, plus an insurance backed warranty registered on your behalf.
Questions people actually ask
Why is a heat pump more than a boiler?
Because it is not one item. The machine is £2,500 to £4,700; the rest is a hot water cylinder, a buffer, controls, a dedicated electrical supply, the pipework to carry a lower flow temperature, and roughly £7,050 of installation, certification and grant work that a boiler swap does not involve.
After the £7,500 grant the gap narrows a long way, and the running cost is the other half of the answer.
Do I definitely get the £7,500?
The property has to qualify: a valid EPC without outstanding loft or cavity wall insulation recommendations, and the system being replaced has to be eligible. We check before we quote and we tell you either way.
We will not put a grant in a quotation until the voucher is confirmed, because a price that depends on money you might not get is not a price.
Will my radiators need changing?
Some of them usually do, because a heat pump runs a lower flow temperature and a radiator sized for 70 degrees will not put out the same heat at 45. We price it at £415 to £490 per radiator including the labour.
The room by room heat loss survey is what decides which ones, and it happens before the quotation, not after.
Can I have cooling from it too?
Not from an air-to-water heat pump feeding radiators, no. If cooling matters to you, an air-to-air heat pump is the machine that does both, and that is what most people call air conditioning.
Air-to-air heat pumps are the other half of what we install, and they carry a different grant.
