We replaced an ageing gas boiler in Hornsey N8 with a Vaillant aroTHERM plus air source heat pump running the underfloor heating and hot water, with the indoor equipment in the loft so none of it takes up living space. Three days on site, with the £7,500 grant taken off.

Where the indoor kit goes is a choice, not a fixed rule. A loft works when it is boarded, reachable and protected from frost.

Yes, if the loft floor can take the weight, there is safe access for servicing, and the pipework is insulated against frost. We check all three at the survey.

Is underfloor heating good with a heat pump?

It is the best match. It heats a large surface at a low temperature, so the heat pump runs at its highest efficiency.
