What the housing in Brentford means for the job
Brentford has changed more in ten years than anywhere else we work. The riverside and the Grand Union frontage are now largely new flats and conversions, which are well insulated, easy to cool, and entirely governed by a management company's alterations policy. Behind the High Street it is Victorian terraces with the usual narrow plots. What ties the two together is flat roof: the new blocks have them and the terraces have them over kitchen extensions, and a flat roof is the best plant position in a dense area and the one most often done badly.

Get the alterations policy in writing first. It is the thing that decides the job, not the engineering.
Can you do the cooling and the solar on one visit?
On the survey, yes, and it is worth doing. Two systems designed together share one scaffold, one electrical isolation and one set of certification rather than two.
