What the housing in Winchmore Hill means for the job
Winchmore Hill is the kind of housing stock that makes an installer's job straightforward: Edwardian and interwar semis and detached houses with side access, gardens deep enough that an outdoor unit is nowhere near a boundary, and plenty of room for a proper base. Rooms are generous, which usually means a 3.5 kW unit where a smaller house would take 2.5 kW. The exception is the conservation area around Winchmore Hill Green and the older streets near it, where anything visible from the road needs thinking about first.

Usually yes, but not under permitted development if the unit would be visible from the road. That means a planning application rather than a refusal.
