Air conditioning installation in progress at a London property, with pipework being run to the outdoor unit

Daikin air conditioning
installed in London

Daikin is the brand most people name before they have compared anything, and for a wall unit that runs quietly in a bedroom that instinct is usually right. Here is what we actually fit, what each range is for, and when we would tell you to buy something else.

  • Free survey, fixed written price, no obligation
  • Manufacturer warranty registered in your name
  • We will tell you when a cheaper range does the same job

Daikin air conditioning costs 1,750 to 2,900 pounds for one room in London, supplied and fitted including VAT. The Perfera and the Stylish both run down to 19 dB(A) on their lowest fan speed, which is quieter than rustling leaves.

The price is set by access, pipe run and electrics rather than by the badge, which is why the table on this page is the same one as everywhere else on the site.

What Daikin is genuinely better at

Heating. The reason to care about the Perfera's SCOP figure is not the summer, it is October to April, when a well-chosen air conditioner is the cheapest heat in the house on a per-kilowatt basis and most people never switch it on because they think of it as a cooling machine.

Quietness at low load. Both the Perfera and the Stylish reach 19 dB(A) on their lowest fan speed. For scale, rustling leaves is about 20 dB and a quiet bedroom at night is around 25 to 30, so at normal sleeping distance the unit is below the room. That figure is the single most useful number on any bedroom installation and it is the one nobody asks about.

The Stylish is also 189mm deep, which sounds like a detail until the unit has to go above a door or on a wall somebody walks close to.

When we would tell you to buy something else

If the room is a spare bedroom or a home office used three days a week, the Sensira does the same job as the Perfera for less, and so does the equivalent Samsung or Mitsubishi. Paying for a flagship indoor unit in a room nobody sleeps in is the commonest way people overspend on this.

If somebody in the house dislikes moving air on their skin, Samsung's Wind-Free panel does something Daikin does not have a direct answer to, and it is worth looking at before you commit.

And if the quote in front of you is a Daikin at a price that seems too good, check which range it is. Sensira and Perfera are both Daikin and they are not the same purchase.

What it costs, and why the brand is not the reason

This is the same table as everywhere else on this site, and that is deliberate. Across the brands we fit, the indoor unit is a minority of an installed price. The rest is the pipe run, the core drilling, the electrical work, the outdoor position and the commissioning, and none of that changes because of the badge on the front.

Every figure on this site is an estimate based on published UK market ranges and our own installation experience. It is not a quotation. The price you are given after the free survey is the price you pay.

The other brands we fit

We are not tied to any manufacturer, which is the reason the comparisons on these pages are written the way they are. We would rather put the right unit in the room than the one with the best margin.

Daikin air conditioning: common questions

How much does a Daikin air conditioning unit cost installed in London?

1,750 to 2,900 pounds for one room, supplied and fitted, including VAT. Two rooms on one outdoor unit is 3,200 to 5,500 pounds and three rooms 4,500 to 7,500.

The badge moves that less than people expect. What moves it is the pipe run, whether the outdoor unit needs a bracket, and whether the consumer unit has a spare way. There is a calculator on the cost page.

Which Daikin is quietest?

The Perfera and the Stylish, both at 19 dB(A) at their lowest fan speed. In a silent room at normal sleeping distance that is effectively inaudible.

Sizing matters more than the model here. A unit that is too big for the room reaches temperature, stops, drifts and restarts, and it is the restarting you hear. A correctly sized unit spends the night ticking over at its quietest speed.

Is Daikin better than Mitsubishi Electric?

Not in a way that should decide it for most homes. Both make excellent equipment, both reach 19 dB(A) at the top of their ranges, and the difference between them is smaller than the difference between a good installation and a poor one.

Daikin tends to lead on heating efficiency and Mitsubishi on low-load refinement and service network. We fit both and we will tell you which we would put in your room. See Mitsubishi Electric.

Do you register the warranty?

Yes, in your name, and we give you the commissioning record with the weighed refrigerant charge and the pressure test result. Keep that document. Every manufacturer warranty claim asks for it and most homeowners cannot find one.
