Samsung air conditioning
installed in London
Samsung's Wind-Free panel is the one genuinely different idea in domestic air conditioning: it cools the room without blowing air at anybody. If somebody in the house hates draughts, this is the page to read.

Brands we work with

Samsung air conditioning costs 1,750 to 2,900 pounds for one room in London, supplied and fitted including VAT. The Wind-Free range cools through 23,000 micro-holes instead of a fan blowing at the room, which is the reason to choose it.
Everything else about the price is the same as any other brand: access, pipe run and electrics do the work.
The Samsung ranges we fit
| Range | What it is for | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Wind-Free Comfort | Bedrooms, nurseries, and anyone who dislikes moving air | Cools through micro-holes rather than a directed draught |
| Wind-Free Elite / Avant | The same idea with a better finish and higher efficiency | Flat front, no visible louvre when it is off |
| Wall-mounted standard range | Where Wind-Free is not needed and budget is the priority | Conventional louvre, lower price, same reliability |
| Multi-split (outdoor unit) | Two to five indoor units on one outdoor unit | Mix Wind-Free and standard indoors on one system |
| Wind-Free cassette | Ceiling void, and the same no-draught behaviour | Four-way, with the micro-hole panel |
What Wind-Free actually is, and what it is not
It is a second cooling mode rather than a marketing name. Once the room has reached the set temperature, the unit closes its main louvre and pushes cooled air through thousands of very small holes in the front panel instead. The air still comes out; it comes out slowly enough that you do not feel a draught on your skin.
What it is not is faster or more powerful. Pulling a hot room down still happens in the normal directed mode, and Wind-Free takes over to hold it there. So the honest summary is: it does nothing for the first twenty minutes and everything for the next eight hours.
That makes it a bedroom feature, and specifically a feature for anyone who has ever woken up with a stiff neck under a hotel air conditioner.
Who should not buy Wind-Free
A living room that gets used in short bursts and needs to go from warm to comfortable quickly does not benefit much, because it spends most of its time in the ordinary mode. The money is better spent on getting the sizing right.
A home office with one person in it who wants air movement will simply turn it off.
And if nobody in the house has ever complained about a draught, the standard Samsung range, or the equivalent Daikin Sensira or Mitsubishi MSZ-AP, does the same cooling for less.
What it costs, and why the brand is not the reason
This is the same table as everywhere else on this site, and that is deliberate. Across the brands we fit, the indoor unit is a minority of an installed price. The rest is the pipe run, the core drilling, the electrical work, the outdoor position and the commissioning, and none of that changes because of the badge on the front.
| Job | System | Installed price |
|---|---|---|
| One bedroom | 2.5kW single split | £1,750 to £2,400 |
| One double bedroom | 3.5kW single split | £1,900 to £2,800 |
| One living room | 5kW single split | £2,300 to £3,600 |
| Two rooms | 2 unit multi-split | £3,200 to £5,500 |
| Three rooms | 3 unit multi-split | £4,500 to £7,500 |
| Ceiling cassette, per room | Add to the above | +£500 to £900 |
| Annual service | Any make | £95 plus VAT |
Every figure on this site is an estimate based on published UK market ranges and our own installation experience. It is not a quotation. The price you are given after the free survey is the price you pay.
The other brands we fit
We are not tied to any manufacturer, which is the reason the comparisons on these pages are written the way they are. We would rather put the right unit in the room than the one with the best margin.
Daikin
The Perfera and the Stylish both run down to 19 dB(A) on their lowest fan speed, which is quieter than rustling leaves.
DaikinMitsubishi Electric
The MSZ-LN runs at 19 dB(A) on its lowest fan speed and is the most refined wall unit the brand makes.
Mitsubishi ElectricEverything we install
Also LG, Panasonic, Toshiba, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Midea, chosen by the room rather than by brand loyalty.
InstallationSamsung air conditioning: common questions
How much does Samsung air conditioning cost installed in London?
1,750 to 2,900 pounds for one room supplied and fitted including VAT, and 3,200 to 5,500 pounds for two rooms sharing one outdoor unit.
Wind-Free models sit at the upper end of the indoor unit price within that, but the difference is smaller than the difference a difficult outdoor position makes. The cost page has the full breakdown.
Does Wind-Free actually work?
Yes, in the sense that it does what it says: it holds a room at temperature without a perceptible draught. Whether that is worth the premium depends entirely on whether draught is something you notice.
It is the one feature in domestic air conditioning where we would say try to stand in front of one before deciding, because people's reactions to it differ more than their reactions to anything else on a spec sheet.
Is Samsung as reliable as Daikin or Mitsubishi?
In our experience the difference in reliability between the three is much smaller than the difference between a system that was commissioned properly and one that was not. A weighed refrigerant charge, a real pressure test and a proper vacuum matter more to how long a system lasts than the badge.
Where Daikin and Mitsubishi have an edge is the depth of the UK spare parts network in year ten. It is a real consideration and it is not a reason to avoid Samsung.
Can I have Wind-Free in one room and a normal unit in another?
Yes. On a multi-split, the indoor units do not have to match, so a Wind-Free in the bedroom and a standard unit in the living room run from the same outdoor unit. That is usually the sensible way to spend the budget.
